Origin Story
My first job in the entertainment business was being the assistant to an Academy Award-winning movie producer. Part of my duties included regularly picking up the producer's children from grammar school — which should indicate just how glamorous a position this actually was.
So one day, on the way home from school, the kids convinced (okay, ordered) me to drive through a local Mexican fast food restaurant for a snack. In the midst of placing their order, the little darlings cajoled me into asking the man on the other end of the intercom what kind of beans they used. After several attempts to get out of it, I gave in.
There was a long pause on the other end of the intercom, until finally — a confused, heavily accented voice responded:
The children howled as if these were the funniest words ever spoken and insisted I do this every time I picked them up from now.
Two days later, in that same drive-through, I made myself a promise: if I were ever fortunate enough to have my own company, I would name it "Regular Beans" to remind myself where I started.
